well for those interested...
I just dropped a 1.7 GHZ P4 into one of our test machines
with an ASUS P4 MB,
and OVERCLOCKED it to 1.97 GHZ and it runs fine !!!

WOW this thing screams...

runs smooth though, expecially fast in win 2000....

this machine seems to end alot of the platform wars I have read especially with P4 software...
and no vapor chill piece of crap either..
runs at 48C too.. hmm

hell of a QUAKE machine too :))

best

So comapring a machine you have got (P4) with one you don't have (Athon 1.33GH DDR) you think the one you have wins.

LOL!

They will both be fast and can overclock!

Your point is?

agreed

but P4 2G is hell of a machine, i dont think Tbird, even at 1.33 could reach close to it, especially when P4 optimised apps are coming around.

AMD needs some serious work - must increase MHz since they are ahead in MHz to MHz analysis.

That new core certainly has potential! Just read some of the threads about scaling it to 6 or even 10GHz! If only you could unlock that multiplier... maybe someone will find a way, although I doubt it will be as simple as doodling on your CPU package with a HB pencil :)

NOT EXACTLY,
we build AMD machines for clients and I have tested and seen a 1.33 and it is not as fast as the P4 1.7 no matter how you slice it in win 2000 in professional apps when using P4 compiled software and APi's
