I'm getting a computer custom made but I dont' know what CPU to get i was thinking about getting a P4 1.4 gig or 1.5. Or should i wait till the new P4 comes out??
you ahould wait for the new socket to come out, so can upgrade your system later
also you mee want to think about the fact that they are going to replace the p4 early next year(aleast thats what i have heard reading around in here)
i would personal wait for teh polmino (i hope i spelled it right)
No logical person would buy a P4. Unless Quake 3 is all you care about. The price/performance of the P4 is terrible. Even if the P4 outperformed the Athlon I still wouldn't buy it because it uses RDRAM. As long as other memory exists I will never buy any computer that puts one penny in the RAMBUS coffers.
you wanna know what's funny, if you ever owned a nintendo system then you got rdram, if you have the PS2, that also has RDRAM! there's rdram in hdtv's now!
Rambus will get you! hahahaha!

Whats wrong with u people? don't you read tom's reviews? RDAM is a dinosaur. Expensive and acutally slower than SDRAM. The P4 sux for performance. An Athlon 1ghz beats a 1.4ghz P4. If you want a "real" computer buy an Athlon. You'll save yourself a grand, and you'll have three times the system.
Yep. But the worst thing it can do is slow down the DDR production because RAMBUS will never sell that much anymore. I think they will eventually go out of busines unless they make their memory dirt cheap.
