Whne I tried to network my P4C800-E when I built it about a year ago I had
problems with the network connection repeatedly dropping. I put in a
separate PCI card and everything worked fine so I thought it was just a
compatability issue. However when recently I tries to use the Firewire
connection for the first time it also didn't work but putting in a PCI card
fixed that also.
The board is still under warranty but returning it means PC out of action
for some time.
Anyone else had the same experience or is there a known issue please?

PS Yes I loaded the drivers

Did you enable the firewire in the BIOS? My experience with the firewire
port is flakey. Promise didn't do a good job. SB Audigy firewire port worked
for me.

The onboard nic has worked fine in my machine. Drivers, protocols, etc.
could be to blame or just a bad board.

Did you remember to Install the network driver and the Firewire driver from
your motherboard's installation CD?

Thanks for the help. Yes I did install the drivers from the CD.

Yes BIOS enabled. Perhaps a dodgey board but if so I think I'll have to live
with it until the next upgrade; the PCI cards work and thanks for reminding
me I have Firewire on the Audigy
