Hi all,

for the last two months in my comp was running a P4C800 E de Luxe. For sound
i've used the onboard AD1985 soundchip (SoundMAX) in 5.1-mode. Now i wanted
to sell this board to a friend, who has only stereo-speakers. Now he cannot
switch back the soundchip to stereo-mode, and we dont know why. The system
is running under Win XP Pro SP1 (like mine) and he has at first reinstalled
multiple times the drivers for the soundchip - always without success. Now
he was installing XP from scratch, but this time also the soundchip works
only in 5.1-mode.

Has anybody had same experiences with this soundchip or this board? And
maybe a solution for this problem? Thanks in advance for any hint.

regards, Jens

In BIOS (1017 Final/Beta4) you can only switch ON or OFF. And we've set the
BIOS several times on it's default settings, but nothing happens.

What are the settings in the Soundmax control panel preferences for the
speaker layout?

Desktop-Stereo. And you can hear nothing. No matter in which plug the
speakers are plugged in (normally in the middle one). If you set it to
5.1-speaker in the soundmax panel, then you can hear some noise, but only
if connected the 'rear'-plug.

Now i think the board is out of order and i will bring it back to my dealer,
it is only three months old, maybe i'll get a new one.
