Hello ,

I just upgrade my computer to Intel p4e 3.0Gz . Prescott
2x512 DDR pc 3200 kingston
2x SATA Seagate 80 GIGA RAID 0
Inno 3d TI 4200

Im concerning about my CPU Temp .
under normal 48C / full load 62C
is this to hot ?

Im planning to replace the heat sink with 3rd party produk , can anyone refer me , a good one , more cooler , and quiter.

Im interest in Zalman Silent Tower , is this good one ? are the temp more cooler ?

one more question , if the temp of CPU more hot , are the performance of CPU go down (slower) ?

I will be happy if any one would share some opinion .

Thanks.. ^^

Check out the reviews for the high-end P4s. They're bar heaters.

And 'quieter' extremely rarely means 'cooler'. 99% of the time it means 'much much hotter'. The hot air has to go somewhere, you either push it away quickly and reduce the local temperature, or you don't.

Do lots of research, spend your money very carefully. Or make the mistake I did.

With regard to your last question - in theory, the cooler a processor runs, the electrical conductivity improves, so potentially better processing speed. In theory, though.

How many fans do you have running in total, including PSU? What speeds are they running (RPM)?

those temps are normal, don't worry about it. But you should have an adequate airflow in your case, remember that your p4e generates alot of heat that will also affect other components.

You will not be able to go quiet with a Prescott unless you go water. A cheap water-kit is about the same cost as a high-end aircooler; as advised-pick them wisely ;)

tell us how you go about it

What do u suggest for high-end air coller? Is this more quite than the original fan from the box ?

Zalman silent tower , is it better than original fsb ?
If I go water , any one know how durable is water kit ?
Do u have any change that it would leak e/g. for 2 or 3 years of using .

Watercooling if you've installed it properly, then it won't leak.

As for high-end cooling, the Coolermaster Hyper6 with a second papast/panaflo low fan would do the job just fine.

2nd that... go for the CM Hyper 6

or do as Scottchen and throw yourself restlessly around your bed at night because the Thermalright XP-120 isn't out yet ;)

Scottchen doesn't do that. His chip is cooled by a sream of water piped in from the ocean, and cooled by a peltier.
(well, it is water cooled, and he does have the peltier)

LOL what's this make fun of scottchen day?

Well i admit my peltier isn't too useful for my CPU but overall it's very useful since i got a GPU down the line after my CPU.

:) of course! No, you've just been hyped about Thermalright products; which I can understand :)

Ah well.. you should have a 2nd watercooler, just for touy gpu, within six months, you know you can't help it ;)
