I have a P4SD-LA that i got from one of my friends. the problem i am having is that i restarted the computer and the bios is now corrupt. I contacted ASUS about it and they told me i needed to contact HP (since it was from a HP computer) so HP sent me a nice WINDOWS utility that would fix it. problem is i cant even boot the computer so windows is by far out of the question. anyone have any ideas?

That windows utility does not sound very helpfull.
Is the computer still under warranty?
Some things to try would be reseting the CMOS.
Some other questions are what is happening that you thing the bios is corrupt.
Were you installing something with when you restarted?
Were you updating the bios when you restarted?
Also the HP model might help and not the motherboard model number.

no the computer isn't under warranty. in fact i just got the mother board out of the old computer that my friend had. i tried to reset the CMOS and i get the same response. i was about to install Linux over windows 2000 when it gave out. i didn't even get to the installation of Linux. prior to that it worked like a charm. i checked all the cards installed on another board and there are no problems with them that may have caused a glitch on the MOBO itself.

as for the HP system it was in.... i don't know. i am sorry i have no other ideas on what to do. its fast and it worked... i just wonder if there is a way to update the bios without windows being as how i cant even boot.

anyone have any ideas?

If you are not even getting the system to post, a bootable floppy wont help.
With the system is eveything powering up fans, cd, harddrives?
What happens when you press the power button. Does it do anything? Any screen messages? Any beeps? Have you tried a diff power supply?
One more thing if you could find the HP model number so you can look at what other bios options there are. Most of the time they make a window executable as well as a floppy. With only the mobo model I cant locate the other option.
