G`Day all..
In the recent article on upg`ng an old Asus P55T2P4, w/a K6/2+ CPU there is all kinds of info for/on the cpu.
Should I not be able to use just a K6/2 for this or do I need the "+"
Reason being, I`ve got a few rev 3.1 Mo/Bo`s lots of cases/mem/hdd`s/voodoo 3`s, I`m looking @ setting up a small network w/the P55`s used for file servers and gateway, The K6/2`s are readily available to me, whereas the K6/2+`s are not.
Should I bother seraching out the +`s or will the regular cpu`s work for me?

The original K6/2 is more likely to work than the K6/2+. It will work in almost anything. Any K6/2 faster than 350 will automatically jump to 6x if the motherboard is set to 2x, making most modifications unnecessary. 6x66.6=400, 6x75=450, 6x83.3=500.

I had a P55T2P4 r 3.1 in my beast, and i had a K6-2+ 500,
and after i had shorted out 2 pins, i cranked it up.
only running at 400, hmm, thats strange.
Once it hit windows, it was fine, then after a while i started getting a few anomolies on screen (icons turned white, etc)
so i reeboot, and the thing is running at 350.
after playing with some settings and jumper settings, i managed to get it running at a max of 450.
i started getting more problems with anomolies, and after a while i just gave up, and bought a super 7 mainboard, and 128mb of 133mhz ram.
best investment i have ever made.
BTW, the videocard i had runnin in it was a Voodoo 3 2000
(that wasnt overclocked at all)
anyway, if that made any sence, i have put my part in.
