P5B Deluxe wi/fi Bios problem

Flashed the BIOS to version 1226 using Easy Flash and it erased, flashed and verified and said reboot. Upon reboot I get nothing, no beeps no drive access, nothing. Ran the bios recovery but It won't work, doesn't even access A: or the USB flash drive.

I assume the BIOS chip is bad, but I can not find it! Looked in the manual and it shows the BIOS chip placement right behind the gold Heat sink and in front of the PCI-E (Black) slot. But there is nothing there that looks like a BIOS chip.
I'm afraid to order another one without the numbers off of the old chip. Nor can I replace it if I can't find it.

I did have some driver issues with the video but otherwise the System was running fine on Vista 64 bit until I flashed the bios, was hoping BIOS Falsh would help with the video driver problem.

Any help will be most appreciated
Thanks

I tried clearing the CMOS with the jumper, also removed the battery for 30 mins or so, still not even a beep. I also have pulled the video card and sound card, still no beep codes.

Can't get to the Bois screen to change anything

This sytem has been running perfectly for over a year with this memory at stock V setting
Will try pulling the memory to see if I get any beeps
Tried bios recover from both floppy and usb flash and still get nothing.

Does anyone know if the bios chip is soldered on?

Or is it time to start shopping for a replacement

thanks

The chip is not soldered on, I had this board on my first conroe cpu build.

Pull the power plug from the puter, remove the battery for 30 minutes, clear the cmos via the jumper, connect power cord, then fire it up.

If this does not work, then get Asus to send you a new bios chip, they usually will do this for free, along with instructions on how to do so.

Just for reference I got a reply from ASUS Tech Support stating
"Unfortunately the BIOS is intigrated into the southbridge with this particular board.
You will need to send the board in for warranty service at this point."

Tried removing the battery and Clearing the CMOS w/ jumper overnight and it did not help

Pulled memory and all other cards and I do get the memory error beeps, so I tried putting 1 stick back in with no other cards hoping I could get BIOS Recovery to load by powering up and holding (CTL HOME) but with 1 stick of memory I get nothing.
I slso tried each stick 1 at a time in each of the 4 slots, all had the same result.
Based on these results I think the BIOS is checking for memory b ut when it goes to Video it stops, I get no video beep codes

This may not apply to you, but I put 1226 on as well and couldn't get in.

I looked in the BIOS and it only recognized one of my sata drives and it wasn't the boot drive. I can't remember if it was in the boot order or what.

If you are using 2 drives it's something you might want to look at.

Appreciate the reply, but I have tried disconnecting all SATA drive leaving only the IDE A: and CD/DVD drive, hoping to force it into the BIOS recovery, Sadly the results were the same.

Tested my memory Corsair XMS2 using Memtest on another systems and It passed 100%
Tested the Video card onanother system, it to tested OK

I have another CPU on hand so think I'll drop it in just to be sure it's the BIOS/ Board, it's my last hope. :fou:

Thanks, to all, for the help!
