How come i cannot get any usb controllers to show up on my device manager for my p5n-e Sli?

i tried updating all my unknown devices and all of them regconized and non had anything to do with usb.

Tried resetting the bios...still no usb!

I tried updating my bios....still my usb did not work!

tried reinstalling the chipset drivers...still no usb!

And i double checked the usb controller is set to on in the bios!

plugged in my mouse pad that uses usb power for its light...the lights work perfect..soo the usb is not doa(i think.......)

tried xp and vista. they both say the same thing for usb in device manager. they both say " standard enhanced pci to usb host controller, standard openHCD USB host controller, and 2 Usb root hubs"

HELP!!!

Your motherboard CD should include drivers for USB. What you might have to do is either uninstall the standard drivers or upgrade from device manager with drivers from your CD.

I have the exact same motherboard and haven't had any issues with the USB. I'm running XP Pro. One thing I did was download the latest chipset drivers from Nvidia, not Asus. Nvidia seems to have newer driver versions (usually).

Otherwise you may have a faulty chipset controller on your board. I know you said that you power from USB but for some reason that's as far as it goes.

You can always get in touch with Asus's tech support and see what they have to say.

i tried installing the usb driver from the cd and it says...."already built into operating system"(or something like that) and wont let anything usb dirver install......

HELL OF A THING!!!

thanks for the help...soo ffar...

i guess ill contact asus...right about now..

Quick question: how many USB devices have you tried? I'm just asking because if all you have tried is a mouse then perhaps your mouse doesn't work properly anymore. Just a thought.
