Hi, i just bough my new computer and iv'e try to set the memory to is maximum clock speed but the CPU gone crazy. CPU go up to 90 Celsius. Even if i try to set at 800 MHZ to CPU overheat. I didn't try to over clock the cpu because i don't need it.

My cpu spec are
P5N32-E SLI (680i), Intel Core 2 Quad Extreme QX6850 3.0Ghz, 4G Ram OCZ Reaper Kit PC-9200 1150 MHZ, GeForce 8 eVGA 8800 Ultra, SoundBlaster X-FI Fatality Pro Gamer, 750G Western Digital 7200RPM.

By default the memory is clock at 667Mhz. I put the FSB at the same speed with the memory and iv'e check the timing and voltage with OCZ and everything is ok. My BIOS current version is 1103.

What should i do??

P.S. Just wanna say that i never overclock before so i am not familiar with those kind of problems.

Thanks and have a nice day!!!

Hi Doom,
Your post is a little hard to follow, but I have the same mobo so I'll try and help you.

Sounds like you have your ram and fsb synced in 1:1 ratio.
To bring your ram to it's 1150 mhz in a 1:1 ratio you increased your FSB to 575 (?)

IF your FSB is at 575 your cpu is overclocking to like 5.175 Mhz which is way way too high. 575 * 9 = 5.175 :ouch:

Chose UNLINKED for your ram and set it's speed independently.
You can experiment with syncing and ram/fsb ratios later.

Your FSB in bios should be 333 stock. (for your cpu 333*9=3Ghz)

I'm probably misunderstanding you because I don't think you could post at 5+ghz.

note: Your cpu has a muliplier of 9 - there are some overclocking guides that you can read in the stickeys

My FSB is at 1333Mhz stock so i put it at 1150Mhz. What should i do if I want to put my memory at 1150Mhz or 800Mhz?? What should i do? What should be the ratio?? Now i put the memory manager at Automatique so my Mobo put the memory speed at 667MHZ so it little bit slow. If you need more information just ask for it.

Your memory should be UNLINKED

when it's unlinked you can just type in 1150Mhz
in overvolting set your ram voltage to 2.2v or whatever it is rated at

My other computer (with same mobo as yours) is tied up, so later on I'll go through and look at the bios again so I can tell you what screens... In the meantime, maybe someone else has some screen shots for you.

Unlinking works and all, but I'd be more worried about the temps. Assuming it's not a faulty sensor, make sure the cooler is seated correctly and that you have the right amount of paste. 65C for core temps are the max safe temps for that extreme cpu.
