I have been using this mobo with the i3-540 processor for almost a year n then 1 fine day... got a bluescreen after that no display at all. Now thou i have sent it for replacement for both processor and mobo, i have got mobo replaced twice and processor once, still the issue presists. I also use ATI 5750 graphic card thru which i get red display (hdmi) upto logo windows loading after tat no display. On board thru VGA no display at all. I have confirmation no issues with PSU, ram, graphic card, cables. So apart from these two parts, what else can be the problem. Intel now says i3 processor are not compatible with Asus mobo, after an year i dont believe so.

Now i just took out the processor n found the thermal paste to be almost nil, can this be the issue?

Any other solutions could be welcome. With mobo n processor taking almost 4 months from dispatch to return, i am at wits as to what else to do. The system is still under warranty, wish it was not. i could have thrown it long back.

According to the Asus website for that board... http://www.asus.com/Motherboards/Intel_Socket_1156/P7H55DM_PRO/#CPUS
... if your board is of the Rev # listed, it should be compatible.

I'm not sure what you mean by 'nil' with the thermal compound. It only requires a tiny drop and that simply spreads to fill in microscopic pores in the metal. Usally an overheated CPU will simply shut down. Are you satisfied that the board is being replaced with a new one and not just 'fixed' and sent back?

Thanks cluchc for the reply.

I know it should be compatible coz i have used it for a complete 1 year. Well regarding thermal compound, i meant the paste seems to have gone over the period, coz i remember when i installed the processor a year back and now, the quality is very less, almost as if its dried now.

After mobo was replaced, the system was giving signs of life, but failed again. i am suspecting it to be the processor at the moment. i have given it yet again under warranty, hope to have a resolution within the next 15-20 days!!!!!..
