p8p67 pro No post 4 beeps

Hey so im just building a new computer and I got most of the parts at warehouse sales, here are my specs:

p8p67 pro
BFG 550 Watt psu
intel core i5-3330
2x Corsair Vengance 4GB 1600Mhz
Gigabyte Geforce GTS 450 1gb

The problem I`m having is my computer wont boot up or post and gives me a 4 beep error code and a sometimes blinking dram led and sometimes its solid. Searching online says a 4 beep code is most likely a system timer failure although I don't know how to remedy that either. I`ve tried several configurations of the ram and even just 1 stick and still no luck, i just checked the wiring and even repositioned the cpu. At the moment the psu and gpu fans turn on but not the cpu fan, any idea guys?

On the motherboard there should be a barcode sticker. Check the last 4 digits on that sticker.
According to the CPU Support List, 3207 or newer BIOS version is requested.
If older, you cna't flash the BIOS on this board without a supported CPU.
But, since the BIOS chip is on socket, you can easily replace it with one flashed with the latest version (from ebay or ASUS eStore, if in US).
Check firstly the sticker:

Thanks for the quick reply guys, how can i update the BIOS though if it wont boot up? a quick search tells me i'd have to flash it but i dont have a bootable USB stick, is there another way to do it or will i have to go out and buy one?

I've tried resetting the CMOS by moving the jumper pin already but to no avail. However after more snooping around I found out how to find my MB Bios from the barcode sticker, and apparently my BIOS version is only 0703. So now im looking at ways to flash a BIOS; you can tell I'm new to this haha.

Download the updated bios from here: http://support.asus.com/download.aspx?SLanguage=en&m=P8P67%20PRO&os=17

Get that in USB and flash from USB.

Many thanks Akashdeep! I was searching exactly for this guide. One more question as i wont be able to try it until tomorrow when i can get a USB... It says I'll have to enter BIOS setup, will i be able to do that while my computer cant power on self test right now?

What does step 4 mean in that guide for flashing the BIOS?
it says "style="MARGIN: 0cm 0cm 0pt; mso-list: l0 level1 lfo1; tab-stops: list 36.0pt" class=MsoNormal>Update:" what does this mean?

id like to add that there is no splash screen when i boot it up, only 4 beeps and a solid dram LED. I just tried putting in a 4gb usb formatted to FAT with the rom file of the BIOS, but I cant even get to the BIOS setup spamming delete on the keyboard.

another quick edit; my keyboard is connected to the back but its lights do not light up

Try the alternate methods:

BIOS update through ASUS BUPDATER

BUPDATER is a DOS utility (runs under the DOS operating system). This utility is available for newer motherboards. The human interface is the same as for EZ Flash 2 (the text commands are the same as in AFUDOS).

Preparation:
- You will need the motherboard Support DVD.
- From the ASUS Download site, download, and if compressed extract, BUPDATER to a FAT/FAT32 formatted USB stick.
- Download and extract the BIOS file to the same USB stick as BUPDATER.
- Insert the Support DVD and the USB stick containing BUPDATER + the BIOS file.
- Reboot and press F8. Select boot from the Support DVD.

Update:
- When the Support DVD has booted and promted, select FreeDOS by entering its number.
- Press <Enter>
- At the FreeDOS prompt, type: A: and press <Enter> (or B: or D:, wherever you find BUPDATER)
- At the A:\> prompt, type: BUPDATER /PC /G and press <Enter>
- Follow the on-screen instructions.

If the BIOS update doesn't work
If the BIOS update via EZ Flash 2/BUPDATER through an USB stick doesn't work, check that the following prerequisites are fulfilled:
- The USB stick is partitioned FAT32/FAT.
- The USB stick has only one (1) partition.
- The BIOS file on the USB stick is extracted (unzipped/decompressed).
- The USB stick is inserted before boot so that it can be reqognized.

So another quick update, I just tried the other method and still no bueno 🙁
The optical drive seems to be spinning and working after pressing the power button but there is still no ASUS logo that appears and after. All i get is a black screen and after a moment 4 beeps and a solid red dram light. The main problem for me is I cannot update the bios i think because I cant get to the asus logo

After tinkering for 2 days straight im starting to lose hope on this. Could anyone recommend a mobo i should buy that would be compatible with my other parts?

Try removing all the RAM, then power on.
Tell me if you hear the beeps. You should hear some beeps.

On my brother's mobo it was 3 beeps, then a second of silence, then 3 beeps etc...
For his mobo it was dirty RAM, we wiped the gold contacts off and it worked!

Wait a bit. Can you provide me your processor's full model no? I smell rabbit.

However, if you are going to replace your mobo, you need a Z77 model one. Probably, Asus P8Z77-V PRO or ASRock Z77 Extreme6(or Extreme9)

Which number are you looking for exactly? i did some research myself and my S-spec code is SR0RQ. I checked at ark.intel.com and it says my model was E1; the other version requiring yet a even newer bios is a N0.

That said Im already looking at a ASRock Z77 extreme 4 from my local NCIX, before i buy that though id like to know the difference between the extreme numbers, and im going to double check it will run out of the box with my i5 3330 and other components.

Look, you have no compatibility issue with your current board and cpu.

Next, you need to update your bios, which you failed.

I recommend you to ask someone expert to update bios for you.

I guess you are missing something in updating bios.
