P8P67Pro - upgraded BIOS, cannot boot Windows

I have a P8P67Pro (newer version with the fixed Intel SATA chip).

My screwup - I upgraded to the latest BIOS, hoping it would fix the issue with the boot screen showing 2x during bootup. The BIOS update went ok, but in the process something dorked up my C: drive.

The problem - I cannot boot from the C: drive. I can boot Windows 7 install from a USB stick, but it does not recognize the OS on the C: drive, so I cannot do a repair. Nor will it let me do an install (I get "A required CD/DVD drive device drive is missing"). I've tried "Load Drivers", selecting every driver I can think of that might apply from the ASUS driver CD, to no avail.

How do I get Windows 7 to install on this thing?

A - Prefer repair, but reinstall is an acceptable option.
A - Boot drive is an SSD.
A - No drive larger than 2.2TB.

Quick & Dirty - F8 Boot off the Windows 7 DVD and run Repair - http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows7/products/features/startup-repair

Failure:

Part 1 - Create a bootable Windows 7 Flash Drive:
>Copy of your OS (ISO or DVD)
>4GB or larger Flash Drive
>Free Intel USB 2.0 I/O Port
>Download then extract/unzip the Intel(R) Rapid Storage Technology Driver Software V10.5.0.1026 - http://www.asus.com/Motherboards/Intel_Socket_1155/P8P67_PRO/#download

How to make a bootable Windows 7 USB installer with CMD:
Open and run CMD as Administrator.
Type Diskpart, press Enter.
Type List Disk, press Enter.
Type Select Disk # (where # is the number your USB drive shows up as), press Enter.
Type Clean, press Enter.
Type Create Partition Primary, press Enter.
Type Active, press Enter.
Type Format Quick FS=FAT32, press Enter.
Type Assign, press Enter.
Type Exit, press Enter.
** Copy everything from the Windows 7 installation DVD onto the USB Flash Drive (a simple drag and drop will do; if you have an (.ISO) extract or mount first).

Create a folder called 'RSTDrivers' and copy the extract/unzip the Intel(R) Rapid Storage Technology Driver Software V10.5.0.1026

Part 2 - Repair Windows with Intel RST Driver
Plug USB Flash Drive into any Intel USB 2.0 I/O Port (Black)
Boot PC pressing F8 and select the USB Flash Drive as the boot drive
Launch Startup Repair

Click Load Drivers, see http://www.pagestart.com/images/800_System_Recovery_Options-01.jpg
Select the iaAHCI.inf for AHCI or iaStorA.inf for RAID, see below
Assuming 64-bit and the BIOS is Intel SATA->AHCI
:Flash_Drive...\RSTDrivers\DriversIRST_V10501026_XPVistaWin7.zip\IRST_V10501026_XPVistaWin7\Driver\64bit\iaAHCI.inf or iaStorA.inf
Click Next and follow the prompts.

Part 3 - Reinstall Windows
You have two options: Reinstall Windows creating an 'old' or reformatting and clean.

First, thanks for the detailed instuctions.

But here's the rub. I was already using a USB thumb drive with Windows 7 on it to boot and try to do a repair or install. Any attempt to load the iaAHCI.inf driver would result in "failure" (with no explanation of course as to what failed).

Doing a clean install wouldn't work either, because I could never get it to load the SATA driver for the CD/DVD drive, which it stupidly insisted on having, despite the Windows 7 image being on a USB stick. Even setting the SATA ports to IDE mode didn't work.

At this point I've given up and taken it to a local computer shop. Hopefully they can just stick the drive in a working machine and fix the screwed up master boot record.

asus guys on rog recommend after you flash the bios to use the clear the cmos jumper and clear the cmos then boot and hit f5 factory default.
also did you start with the next bios file above the one you had or did you grab the last bios file first??
if you did there a note to flash the bios twice.

i restart the flash from the first one then do them in order and then the last one twice as the note said.
for asus bios if you dont want the asus boot screen to show up it under boot. there are two bios on these new mb the efi and the older dos one. you just set the bios boot to one or the other and you only see the asus boot screen once or you can turn the screen off.

I followed those instructions - updated BIOS twice, then did a CLRTC. The BIOS update itself seemed to go ok - I never had an issue getting into the BIOS. It's Win 7 repair or reinstall I could never get to work.
