I recently built a system using a P8Z68-V LX with I5 Processor.

When rendering video projects the I5 temperature runs at about 82 degrees.

I am using he fan that came with the processor.

After searching I have found out that the I5 maximum temperature is about 105 degrees.

Although the system is working fine I am keen to reduce the under load (i.e when rendering video) temperature.

Would it be possible to get it down below 50 degrees?

Any advice is much appreciated regarding my question or anything I may have overlooked.

Thanks in advance.

There are aftermarket cooling solutions for your CPU. The popular Hyper212Evo from Cooler Master is a very economical and effective one

or there are extreme options such as the Noctua D14 which is the best of the best on air currently

If you have a smaller case, these solutions may not work but there are others. Then there is always the option of adding water to your computer, the water cooling sticky here explains that option

Again, there are a multitude of options, I've only listed a few to give you an idea.
As far as getting down to a certain temp, that will depend upon; airflow through your case, ambient temp, and a few other things.

Hello C12Friedman

Thanks for that quick reply

The links are great that gives me some food for thought.

The case I have is a standard size ATX case with two side doors that have catches at the top and pivot on hinges at the bottom opening flat. Neither door has a hole for airflow but I could do that if needed.

Adding Fans Etc
Is it possible to get airflow wrong..... hope that doesn't sound silly!
I mean I wouldn't want to upset the Processor fan by doing something stupid.

Thanks Again

:D

Your airflow ideally goes from front to back... as long as you have air going through the case you should be okay. You'll want to keep your cables as tidy as possible (they restrict/disturb smooth airflow) and you don't want to have all your fans pointed inward (or outward). Try to set them up evenly, 1 intake to 1 exhaust although adding an additional intake works too. That's about the best I can do without going into a lot of boring details.

Unfortunately I had fan speed errors with the Cooler Master Hyper 212 Evo Processor cooler.

I had this confirmed with the manufacturer and have replace the heatsink with an Arctic Freezer LP11.

It's a nice unit does a good job for me but due to the fan size the Ram Socket nearest it, can only accommodate low profile RAM sticks.

Out of curiousity, if anyone can suggest from experience socket 1155 CPU coolers they've used and liked,
please post what they are and why you liked them.
