I have the abovementioned motherboard and am trying to put a GTX 980Ti into it. I keep getting a startup message saying I need to connect the PCI-e power supply...which I did. However there are 2 slots and one is an 8-pin (on the graphics card) and both the PCI-e's are 6 pins...is this the problem? is it fixable?

Solution
What model is your power supply?

Yes, you'll need an 8-pin in the 8-pin slot. You could use a 6-pin to 8-pin adapter (one probably came with your GPU), but insufficient connectors is generally a sign of an insufficient PSU.

Also, many PSUs have "6+2 pin" connectors - these are a 6-pin, with an extra two pins that attaches to the side to make it into an 8-pin.
