P8Z77-V PRO sli 8x/2x

I have two Nvidia GTX 760's in sli on a Asus P8Z77-V PRO motherboard but they are running at x8 and x2 bus speeds. Both cards are installed in pcie 3 slots with a sli bridge. Bios is updated to the latest version, and the cmos has been cleared as troubleshooting step(removed battery for 10 minutes). How can I force 8x/8x?

Also, bios options only allow pcie slot generation 1, 2, or 3 choice, and no bus speed changes.

If your gpu's are in the _1 and _2 slots then you have the correct ones and should drop to x8/x8 automatically.
I would run single cards thru both slots and see if the x2 problem stays with the card or with the slot as a test.

The card is at fault. Running this card solo in the first slot showed it could only run at 2x bus speeds. Will RMA with EVGA. Thanks.
