Hello

I'm doing a new build, so opted to install Vista as the OS. Problem is try and run the the drivers from the CD install disk I get some weird message about the express install being 98/ME and I get bombed out. Anybody have a work around?

Thanks

download the correct and most recent drivers from the website/internet.
Install discs... too old. Even if you buy a brand new MB the day it comes out, the drivers will most likely be still too be outdated by the time you get it.

Just went through this... make sure you download the ICH8 USB drivers as well. Ran into some issues with "sleep" using the MS/Vista supplied generic drivers. After updating all drivers from Gigabytes web site, things have settled down.

Running 32 bit. I gave up on 64 for lack of drivers

I've been running 64-bit drivers for well over 1 year and I've had no problems with drivers and hardware. Even an old serial mouse/remote still works.

So I'm assuming then that no-one is using the chipset disc that came with the motherboard 8O . There seem to be a bunch of drivers on the disc....

Are there any useful utilities on the disc?

I am running the Vista Ultimate 64 bit version - seems to be fine. It's a brand new install and I have no real old hardware that I need to have drivers for....

I have installed the 64 bit versions for LAN and audio (from gigabyte site). But I haven't found any others on the gigabyte site for this MB. Where else should I look for the ICH8 USB drivers?

Thanks

The reason I had to load the IC8 drivers is because in Vista 32 it would go to sleep. When I woke it up... usb did not wake up with the machine (this is with the included MS OS drivers) Switching to the Intel drivers corrected the issue. I was not able to find them on Intel's site but was able to Google it and find it on Dells site.

Board Rev 3.3 Gigabyte webpage has no drivers yet. If you go to the Rev 2.0 MB page it only has Audio, LAN, and VGA drivers. No SATA, USB, etc.

So where are all these drivers at? Am I going to the wrong place to find them?

Rev 3.3

Rev 2.0

I just Installed Vista on a new machine with the Rev 3.3 MB and was going to use the Giga CD just to install the updater software but I get same msg about Win 98/Me so can't do anything with the CD. I know to get the latest online and thought the CD utility would allow me to do that. Can do manually but can't find them all.

Vista seems to be running fine so far and my OCZ mem working fine too.

Thanks!

Update and Addl to my previous post:

My 965P-DS3 MB says "Generation 2.0" on the box and "Rev 2.0" on the center of the MB but along the outer edge of the MB it says "Rev 3.3".

That's why I think I have Rev 3.3. I'm so confused.

Either way, still can't find all the drivers.

Just went to the website to the "Download Center" where it installs some software to automatically update your confuser but got a msg that says it only supports P4, K7, and something else. I have Intel E6400 CPU. It did not run on my Vista E6400 system.

Ahh, the taiwan site. I was on the U.S. site. Hmmmmm...

Anyhow, got it to work after a few iterations and it came up with 3 drivers, two of which I had already found and installed earlier.

Next will be BIOS update which I will have to do manually because the BIOS update utility is probably on the CD that won't load in Vista. Not a big deal.

Appreciate the help.

:D Glad I'm not the only one with hassles

I was also only on the US and Canada sites - then I did a Google search and came up with the Taiwan site - duh!

Anyway, on the Taiwan site are all the drivers (64 bit), including one that says Chipset drivers..... drivers Also, the Utilities are there for download utils. My new PC is not yet Internet enabled (don't have a 64 bit Antivirus checker yet - suggestions would be great ) - but once I'm up and running with that, I will use the link for command center download - thanks!

Only problem I have (I forgot about it) is the Razer Boomslang - no drivers and EOL so no support  And it's still a really great mouse......
