Hello,
I've got a P9x79 motherboard with an SSD and a 3TB SATA disk. Windows is installed on the SSD. When I boot into windows, the SATA disk is not recognized. Also not in the disk manager. It is recognized in the BIOS. However, the SATA is visible in windows if I first enter into the bios, then safe default values, and then reboot. Then the SATA is visible in windows. If I then reboot again without entering BIOS, the SATA is again not recognized. Does anyone have any clues on this?

Hi Wilco_40,

I has exactly the same issue with my P9X79 yesterday!

I fixed it by going into the BIOS and changing the SATA settings to IDE. After saving the changes and rebooting, the PC booted into Windows 7 and I could see and access my DVD drive.

Try it and see if it works for you.

Hi NickITP,

Thanks for your reply. I also tried that, but that didn't work for me. If I then rebooted again, the same problems with no SATA detected in windows. However, today I've been googling on the internet and found that it may be related to the fact that the boot is too fast; in other words: too fast to detect the SATA disks. I figured out in the BIOS that I could disable the fast boot option. Now it works fine. If I reboot, shut down or whatever, it now always detects SATA in windows.

Regards,
Wilco
