Hello,

I have a packard bell IXtreme 2711.
I recently installed 4gb ram but only 2.93 is useable. In the bios only 3gb is dectected. But in windows it shows 4gb , and 2.93 useable.

The motherboard is a FoxCon N15235
And the bios version im using is PBSFC2MB.P11

There is nothing in the bios related to memory remapping....

Any ideas?? please!!

Full Spec - 600 watt PSU , Intel Duo2 Q6600 Quad Core 2.4ghz , ATI 5670 1GB , Windows 7 x64

Thankyou for your reply.

When I ticked the box it showed the max as 4000 an something, after reboot it had gone to 0 with the box still ticked. No joy 🙁

100% 64Bit Version of Windows 7
Its 2 x 2 GB Kingston DDR2

I have a little thought. I have in my "stock" an ASRock Mobo - ALive NF6G , which uses 940-Pin CPU. It has an AMD X64 X2 processor installed (I think 2.1ghz maybe more but certainly no less). I am wondering wether to put this board into my packard bell case. I will be giving up my Quad Duo2 2.4 ghz 775 CPU though. Is this worthwhile? ??

What sort of a budget are we looking at since you can use the same processor on any of these boards, here's a whole list of them from Newegg.
Depending on which components you'd like to salvage from the old rig and which you'd like to get new you can choose a board.

Personally, I'd go for either this

or
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813131794

But with these mobos I'd have to incur additional cost of good 8Gb DDR3 and the cost of a good GPU if I wanted this rig to last me another 2 Years.

Really, I have about £150 to spend.
I would like to keep the same GPU and CPU for now, and also my 2 x 2gb modules.
I have a case(s) and also a 600 watt PSU...

I think it'll fit into your budget to get either one of the Mobo's and a Good pair of the RAM.
Although you might need to get rid of your 2 x 2GB DDR2 sticks..... but you'll get a good price for them , I'm sure.
But , go for 8Gb of RAM with a new Mobo. That's the way to go. Depending on what you find either 2 x 4GB Sticks or 4 x 2GB Sticks.

Oh!! Just read it, the Intel Board supports DDR2 so all you need to do is buy yourself 2 more of the same sticks and now you have a good sturdy build for the next year.

Ok thankyou , I will give it ago. BUT.. I have seen on the internet other people having the same issue with my board, worth a try anyway. But I think im gonna have to get some new kit :sol:

I will leave it seated in my mobo, as I have never removed it and would very much doubt they have become bent!! thankyou for the help just the same though.

but intel has some processor which have a pins like pentium4

We're talking about this processor and this board. Not older Intel stuff. What I meant was in context to all the pinless processors and their socket.

49 Quid for a Asrock is steep. That would be a good price for an Asus Board..... but, look around it ought to be there somewhere.... if nothing else goes, then I'd go for a Asrock board.

Here's a Ton of them
