packard bell easynote TSdoes not start up at all only clicking noise comes from where the adapter plugs into the unit

my packard bell easynote TS has lost power and even after pluging in the charger all i hear is a clicking noise coming from where the charger plugs into the unit .
i cannot do anything as it is completely dead
can anyone please help?
is it just a faulty battery?

Maybe a battery, but could be the charger or the charging circuit on the laptop. Remove the battery, does it work then? If not, try a different charger. If that does not work, you'd have to get the motherboard looked at for the charging port issue. It may be worth it to just replace the laptop if you have to go that far as a replacement motherboard and labor to replace it or fix the port would be close to what a new laptop costs.
