Hi all I am a newby to this site and hope someone can help.

I have just purchased a PB X9610 and need to fit another CD/DVD drive and am finding it difficult to remove the front fro access to the drive bay. have asked PB but they say they can't tell me????

So has anyone removed the front escuchen without damaging it

Ian

I'm hoping this is a desktop. Suggest removing entire metal case cover -- or both side panels as is more usual these days. Look for clips and or screws which secure the front fascia to the metal chassis.

By the way I enjoyed your creative -- and correct -- use of the word Escutcheon (at least that's how it's spelled in my Oxford English Dictionary).

Yes it is a desktop

Removed the side cover and Looked inside the case but no clips or screws visible. I have already asked PB but they say they are unable to tell me.

As for the creative spelling being dislecsic don't help. :pt1cable:

PB are idiots -- presumably using a call centre with staff who've never even seen a current Packard Bell model. I'd see if you can remove an existing drive without removing the fascia, which might give you a clue.

I've had a look at a pic of the beast -- and it does look as if the fascia has to come off -- look underneath. Also see if there's a removable section on top surface of the tower.

Hi just to let you know stripped down the PC today and removed the front (*what a cheap nasty case)
Remove the side, LH from front case panel. Remove the Hard drive metal casing. 2 clips hidden behind the HD casing push inwards and remove the front from the bottom.

Fitted my disc drive and everything working.

have a great New Year
