Question Packet burst in COD Vanguard and unstable packet loss in Halo ?

Hello, im about to give up trying to solve my problem. So I am having this stutter problem in Call of Duty vanguard where it pops up with packet burst. The same thing in Halo Infinite pops up "unstable Packet loss". I have Gigabit internet, with a new modem (even tried using my 5g hotspot on my phone and still got the packet burst sign). My latency is low, when i have the packet loss counter on it shows zero. I have done everything software wise under the sun. Fresh windows install and bios updates. I have gone as far as switching out motherboard and cpu from amd to intel. I have borrowed my friends gtx 1070 graphics card and it still does it. I have an nvme and i got a second ssd and loaded games on that. I have tried almost everything everything. Only two things i havent done is pulled out my 4 8gb of ram and changed the psu.

What OS version are you on at the time of writing? Can you also mention the source of your OS installer? You seemed to have migrated from an AMD Ryzen platform to an Intel platform, which BIOS version are you currently on for your Intel motherboard?

Make and model of your router? Check to see if it's got any firmware updates pending.

Thanks! The psu is Cooler Master MPY-7501-AFAAG-US MWE 750 Gold Full Modular, 80+ Gold Certified 750W. PSU is less than a year old when I started the whole build. The build sat for awhile until I could find a graphics card for a reasonable price.

I am running windows 10 and source was I bought a Microsoft key from Best Buy that came with the usb flash drive.

when I can get to my computer I’ll check the bios. I haven’t touched the bios for intel so it might just be the original.

Router is the Netgear Orbi RBR20. Doesn’t seem to have any firmware updates.

You need to do a bit more to see if you have a real network issue or it is something with the pc.

If you have a second device can you leave a ping run to say 8.8.8.8 while the game runs. You are trying to see if both devices have issues at the same time. This would be more likely to be some kind of network issue.

You can also open a CMD window and leave a constant ping run in the background. In this case you want to ping your router IP and something like 8.8.8.8. You are trying to see if the internet goes down or if it is inside your house being the pc or the router.

Ok I will try that but would that really be the issue if I’m am using an Ethernet connection? Also I have pretty much changed out every part on my PC.

In fact I doubt it is a actual network issue at all but before you go crazy digging around your machine for stuff you need to verify it really is just your machine that is being affected. In effect you are trying to prove that the game is telling lies when it says it has packet loss.

Here is my stats after playing a round in cod and i had the packet burst sign pop up multiple times.

Packets: Sent = 539, Received = 539, Lost = 0 (0% loss),
Approximate round trip times in milli-seconds:
Minimum = 60ms, Maximum = 247ms, Average = 67ms

the 247ms hit before i loaded the game.

Any suggestions on a good router to buy? Something that won't break the bank but can handle up to 7 to 9 devices running at the same time.

Try holding a constant ping to another device in the house while playing a round. Find out the ip of another computer or device and ping it constantly. If it spikes there, then you know the problem is internal to the router. If it's only over the internet, you may have a problem with your ISP, the modem or the router's WAN.

As for routers, before you spend any money, I would verify it's the cause of the problem. The easiest way to do this is to borrow an old router from someone who may have one lying around. If you don't have that, then probably buy one on Amazon, make sure it's sold by amazon so it's easily returnable.

Try pinging your cell phone or something inside the house on the same network. You can find your ip address easily on your cell phone or another PC. Even an old xbox or something you can find the ip address easily. Then ping that IP address instead of google.
