The past few days I noticed that my RAM has been used up on something that I can't see.
My friend installed RAMMap for me so I today I checked it as my RAM usage is abnormally high again. I saw that the 'Page Table' Section is nearly completely used up, it is using 2,722,140 K out of 2,727,708. I have no idea what is using this as I only have a few programmes open. If someone could suggest some ways to check this it will help greatly.

Thanks

(I am running Windows 7 BTW)

Windows 7 does tend to use all available RAM, mainly as cache to speed, things up. This RAM will be released when needed for other purposes. You paid for the RAM, so why not use it?

Unless this is actually causing you problems - poor performance or error messages - don't worry about it.

Its causing a problem, although I can just restart my computer every couple of days to avoid it I like to leave it in sleep mode.

about a week ago it caused me to have a BSOD and since then it's been using up about 6 or 7 out of my 8GB of RAM.

Did you try with 1 ram stick?

Not yet, I was going to check the software before messing with hardware

Let us know!

Can you post a screenshot of this?

A page table is a data structure that is used to map virtual addresses to physical addresses. The page tables themselves are a part of the kernel memory and reside in the non-paged memory pool. It would be incredibly bizarre for the page tables to consume that much memory, so I'd like to actually see this for myself.

I have restarted my computer after the RAM was being used too much but since last night the Page Table has gone up to 1,639,316 K.

I'll give it a go next time I have a bit of spare time to mess about with it.

How can I solve a memory leak? I've looked into it before but I haven't found anything that helps.

You'll need to find the driver that's leaking memory and either uninstall it or update it. It could be malicious software, so now may be an opportune time to reinstall your operating system.

At this point, i suggest reinstalling OS as well!

Damn, I've been trying to avoid doing that but may have to be done..

Yes it may, but to avoid any future problems i would do a complete clean installation. Doesnt take that long nowadays!

I tried the system restore for a first attempt, if it goes bad again I will look into just doing the clean installation
