Hi guys,
I have a Samsung 850 evo 250gb SSd and ever since i got i had windows 10 installed on it made some tweaks to save space and performance on the SSd but i preferred to leave the pagefile size and location untouched ( System managed size ) and never had a problem.
How ever the pagefile size used to be 1.3gb never got higher except few times when i ran COD Black Ops 3 which requires huge amount of ram ( i have 8gb ram only ) i noticed that the pagefile jumps to 3gb but as soon as i restart the PC it goes back to 1.3 as normal
problem started occurring one month and have ago pagefile started to increase from itself while there's no load on ram from applications first it became 1.5 then 2 then 2.5 then 3 and today is 3.5! so i tried custom set and i put it back on 1.3 noticed many crashes on my games specially ram demanding ones like Batman Arkham Knight so i put it back to system managed size
any thoughts what's making the pagefile go bigger? any way to stop it? should i remove it to other drive ( SShd)?
Advanced thanks for help.

You're not however I have never had an issue with doing so, I only have a 250gb SSD...

System managed means the pagefile which changes its size based on what the computer thinks is required. From what I understand black ops 3 has a memory leak, its not supposed to use as much memory as it does. I was reading in someones system that game was using 11gb of VRAM and 9gb of system ram, which is just wrong. Its cutting into the pagefile because the the cod developers gave us yet another broken PC port for a COD game. It should not happen in arkham knight however that happens to be another terrible pc port. Have you tried anything other than those two?

How much ram are you using at idle? I have 8gb of ram with the pagefile disabled entirely and I have never encountered low memory warnings even in arkham night, I got pretty close in the bf1 beta. Also where is your pagefile? If its on the SSD its likely using up a lot of writes if its being used, that could shorten the life of your SSD.

Thanks for the reply, my ram usage in idle is 1.6 and yes pagefile is on my SSd
I don't play BO3 any more I just wanted to give you an instance on what makes my pagefile goes bigger and anyhow after i restart PC pagefile goes back to normal size
the problem is now it's getting bigger step by step and it's driving me crazy and custom set lead to instant crash on Arkham Knight not just memory warning so i made pagefile system managed size again
I read disabling pagefile is not recommended for system to function well specially when having low memory as 8gb
What i want to know now is what's making my pagefile bigger and how to track it and prevent it.

Just leave it alone. The page file will grow and shrink as system needs change. This is by design and is to be expected when you set the page file to system managed. This is not a problem and does not need to be solved. You are also correct in that the page file should not be disabled.

You're not however I have never had an issue with doing so, I only have a 250gb SSD so I will take all the space I can get. I have never used all of my physical memory which is the only time having a page file matters from my understanding. And if I did run out of memory its just going to crash, which i'm not too worried about on my gaming pc.
