Pagefile.sys too large

I am running Windows 10 on an SSD.

My pagefile.sys is 1.3Gb and I am wondering what I can do about it ?

I have disabled hibernation and restarted my computer and yet it remains.

Is it safe to deselect "Automatically manage paging file size for all drives"?

Also what is "Catalog1.edb" and "Catalog2.edb" inside Appdata > Local > Microsoft > Windows > FileHistory > Configuration ?
They are both 226MB each.

Lastly, I use Kaspersky, and there is a 200MB file in the cache despite being an admin. Its called kavbase
Should I uninstall and reinstall kaspersky?

Im trying to clean up my computer and make some room before dual booting ubuntu.

Thanks a ton !

Solution
If it is set to "Automatically manage..."
...that 1.3GB will change

Undo the automatic, and set it to 1024 Initial/max. And leave it on the SSD. It will rarely be invoked, but it is helpful to have a small one.
You probably don't need a file that large.. Set the size manually. Depending on how much RAM you have, you can adjust it to your particular needs. I will say that over the years there have been many passionate (and often ill-informed) discussions on this topic. Just remember if possible, put it on an SSD (even better, an SSD that is separate from the boot partition). Also, if you *must* capture full memory crash dumps, you'll want to keep in mind that you must have the memory size as the smallest size of the pagefile. It also matters if you are running x86 vs. x64 version of the OS.

Go check out this article - https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/2860880

Use that as your guide, make your adjustments, and you should be good to go.

Hi I read the article but I don't quite understand what this means for me. I have 8GB of RAM, a 100GB SSD and a 1TB HHD.
Im not sure how large I should set the file and whether I need it.
I am largely a beginner in tech, its really not clear to me what I need ?
Thanks

Yes, you need a pagefile, even if it is small.
1.3GB is not large AT ALL.

Generally, on a system with 8GB RAM, the default pagefile would be much larger.
You can set it lower. I have mine set to 1GB min/max.

What is telling you it is 1.3GB?

WinDirStat is telling me. Should I just leave it then? I would really like to save some space on my harddrive and start using mostly Ubuntu so Im not sure whether I need it so large?

Also do you have any idea what is "Catalog1.edb" and "Catalog2.edb" inside Appdata > Local > Microsoft > Windows > FileHistory > Configuration ?
They are both 226MB each.

Thanks a ton !

I really appreciate all the support I get from this forum. Its awesome !
