Just picked up a used HP Laserjet 1006 for nothing. Works and prints fine except the pages have thin horizontal, the darkness of the very thin line/streak is uneven, and on the right side of the page close to the edge the streaks have a dark spot. I just tried cleaning it twice and didn't help. The streaks didn't appear on the page used for cleaning, but did appear on a blank page with a 1 at the bottom.

Horizontal streaks on a laser printer are usually a sign that the drum and/or the drum cleaning blade needs to be replaced. As this is a low-end model, I can't find any official model number for the drum. So it may not be designed to be replaced, and you're expected to just buy a new printer.

I do see some off-brand replacements, but am reluctant to link them since I cannot verify if they will fit, nor how well they work if they do fit. Buyer beware.

I think the drum and cleaning blade aren't designed to be replaced because they are built into the toner cartridge based on the info I found. I took the toner cartridge apart and tried cleaning what I could, the lines/streaks are still their, but the spots on the right side of the lines/streaks seem to be gone. I'll just use the toner cartridge for less important printing, till it's empty and then try a cheap remanufactured cartridge to see if their gone.
