This question isn't of the utmost importance, but it does worry me. My paging file gets filled up after I leave my PC on for more than a 2 days straight and at one point I had over 3 GB of paging file used up! Windows notified me that it had to adjust the paging file parameters to manage the demand. It doesn't really slow down my system or give me hangs, but it seems a little fishy to me. In particular it seems a running process takes up grand amounts of memory, I saw it at over 150,000 K! The process was "svchost.exe----NETWORK SERVICE----". Can someone please shed some light on my problem? Is it something I should be worried about?

Memory leak or something like that.

What kind of programs do you run constantly on your computer, including in the background?

It could be spyware, or even a visus at that.

The only programs I keep running in the background are Microsoft Anti-Spyware and AVG Anti-Virus programs. All the other processes are service related. I use two anti-spyware programs and I've tried Norton and AVG Anti-virus programs and none of them have shown any real threat.

Don't run M$ Anti-Spyware in the background. It's constantly going out that way. Take it out of Start-Up via msconfig. Only run it manually when you want (every other day should be okay).

How do you know that's all that's running in the background? Just because that's what you installed, or because you actually checked your startup?

Do a msconfig, go to start up, and post what's in there.. I think you'll be surprised.
