Pairing 2666mhz with 2400mhz?

I wish to pair ADATA XPG Z1 8GB RAM STICKS. The one that I have currently is 8GB @ 2666. But I am forced to buy 2400mhz same model due to non availability of the former in my region. So I want to know whether this combo will work perfectly or not?

Also, will both my RAMs now run at 2400?

If it works it will work at 2400, but there are no guarantees when mixing ram especially if the specs differ.

Hey thanks for your reply. What do you mean by difference of specs mate? I am buying same RAM stick of the same brand, of the same model/nomenclature. Can specs differ in such cases too?

Specifications. You are not buying the same ram. The ram is different speeds and possibly different timings.

Okay, so on the box and CPU Z it says CL 17-17-17. So do I need to look for RAM that has the same specs in order for them to pair successfully?

Matching the specs as close as possible helps the odds but it still may not work. If you want 100% garantee ram is going to work together you'd need to buy kit of how much ram you are wanting, to replace what you currently have.

so if I buy another stick that has CL timings as 16-16-16. How good are my chances that it will pair perfectly with the existing 17-17-17?
