Hi, so after I swapped my laptop for a gaming pc I noticed that the 1070 GTX (shitty DELL OEM version) was throtteling soo bad in APEX Legends mid way through the match because it was getting way too hot that I decided to sell the card and get and upgrade so here are my option:

PowerColor Radeon Red Dragon RX 5700XT 8GB or Palit GeForce RTX 2070

With 5700XT being only 5£ more expensive not sure which one should I get.

My concern is that the AMD will get too hot or the very obvious bias in most games that in my opinion seem to be better optimised for Nvidia.

Also if I decide to stay on the cheaper side between a MSI GeForce RTX 2060 VENTUS XS OC and a PowerColor Radeon RX 5700 which one should I go for. (Here I think the blower fan design on the 5700 is just asking for trouble)

My system is:
Ryzen 5 1600
Asus b350 Plus
16 GB RAM

Also I'm not gaming at ridiculous 4K or 2K res....I keep it 1080p 144Hz.

Honestly both cards are the same in terms of performance. In some games, the 5700XT is ahead, 2070 is ahead in some. The difference however is minimal. So buy whatever you please. I think the 5700XT would age better. But to be fair, for stable 144hz 1080p, I'd upgrade the CPU first. 1600 is not bad, in 1080p though, it would hold back those mid-high range cards to a certain extent.

How about Sapphire Nitro+ 5700XT? I heard it operates cooler but uses more power than other 5700XT.. The power consumption might be tweaked or lowered a bit with AMD's Wattman, according to my previous experience with RX480.

I ended up going with the Red Dragon 5700xt, thing is I found the card for 345£ which was more then I intendeed to spend anyway as I was kinda set on a MSI RTX 2060 at 270£ so I wasn’t really looking to spend even more then that.
