Enough with manufacturers adding this extra memory to their graphics cards...the 128-bit bus won't be able to take advantage of it!
Really wish you could use graphics memory on windows for a ramdisk or volume/partition cache it could actually be useful for that purpose. Right now it basically just goes unused largely.

Tom's Hardware should do a article testing it across a bunch of games seeing how much they can get them to use max. I wouldn't doubt if most game still would run fine with only 512MB of graphics memory on high settings. I don't consider a cards graphics memory bandwidth the same as it's graphics memory capacity they serve different purposes one is for speed and the other is for storage to avoid a speed penalty from swapping textures in or out on the fly.

2GB should really be the minimum for any graphics outside display drivers and integrated solutions. 1920x1080 on most games breaks 1gb easily even with low settings (but high textures), especially when desktop manager in 7 and 8 are running.
