Hi there, hoping someone can help me with this problem:
I have a Palit RTX3080 Gamingpro GPU that I bought in December 2021. Generally (fps wise) the card seems to perform well, but i've been having some problems in keeping the thing cool!
When gaming and tracking the temps on HWiNFO64, my memory junction temperatures hover around 82 Celcius, which I think is OK, the hot spot temperature pretty much sticks at about 105 Celcius, and fans seem to stay around 2000 rpm.

The problem is, sometimes the fans max out for a few seconds and then settle back down again. This happens completely randomly, and is really annoying.
Another thing i've noticed is that most of the time Fan 1 (nearest the HDMI connector end of the card) is stopped, even when gaming, but does max out to 100% for those few seconds mentioned above.

I've attached a screenshot of HWinfo showing the fan spikes, i'd really appreciate if someone smarter than me could look at the data and give me some pointers! Thx in advance

The gpu core is a little up there to put into question the airflow situation. What's the case?
Include pictures of the interior - without the side panel, please.

A repaste with some MX-4 or NT-H2 should help bring that down.
If you proceed, do NOT do anything more than that. It will complicate matters; some jump into both paste + pads, and the result is more likely to turn into a mess.

As for the fan situation, I'm not sure. I know that 2 of the 3 fans are daisy chained, so if you look at fan rpm, you only see 2.

Hi both, thanks for the replies. I've set a custom fan curve but it doesn't seem to really make much of a difference to the core temperature. The case is a 'Be Quiet 601 Silent Base', and the CPU is cooled with a Arctic Liquid Freezer cooler with the rads at the top blowing out the case.

I'll repaste the core and see if that brings the temps down :)

Well, that explains the 82~83C gpu core temperature at load. Potential for case airflow is low.
The front doesn't look like it'd allow much through. A case like this tends to be ideal for a negative pressure setup, but there's an AIO rad in the roof; unless the fan curve on the rad fans are aggressive(which few users actually do, 'cause noisy), the AIO likely allows less air out the top than just some case fans. This isn't an issue in more porous cases, but the SB 601 isn't one of those.
