Hello all,

I have a Panasonic Toughbook CF-31, and I am looking into a processor upgrade. It currently has an Intel Core i5-3340M. I noticed the Core i7-3840QM uses the same socket. Would the processor be compatible with this machine?

Thanks in advance.

Have you opened up your laptop to determine if the CPU is socketed or if it is soldered to the main board?

The website I found says that the CPUs in these laptops are soldered. Not sure if that is true or not with the early CF-31 models.

If your laptop does use a socket then it still might not work. If the 3840QM was never installed in that laptop then the BIOS might not recognize it. When this happens a computer will usually hang and will not post.
