Panasonic Units

I'm looking at getting a Panasonic CW-7586-B 8/4/32 CDRW and a Panasonic SR-8585-B 8XDVD 40XCD Rom with my new computer. Any body have one of these? I'm curious as to how dependable they are. I've had good luck with Panasonic Roms in the past, but I'm new to DVD. Is it worth the extra $20 to go to a 12X DVD?

Anything faster than a 2x is fluff unless you need the additional speed for normal Cd-Rom duties.
