Paperclip test question

Can you do the paperclip test on your PSU while the psu is connected to the other components, like HDD, GPU, CPU on the motherboard, optical drive and such, everything except the 24 pin connector obviously ?

You can but it will power all those items as well.

If the power supply is damaged or surging, it could in theory. Why do you want to paperclip test it in the first place?
