Paragon Migrate OS to SSD: "Some Error Occured: There is not enough disk space"

I got a new 250gb SSD recently and tried copying the OS from a 1tb HD using Paragon Migrate OS to SSD. After telling it to send the OS over, not the whole drive, it gave me the all clear and that the SSD had enough space. So I restarted like it asked, and when I rebooted it launched some software without launching windows.

Now when it tries copying the data across, after 2-3 minutes it gives me an error "Some Error Occured: There is not enough disk space" even though I ensured there was.

It's stuck on an endless loop whenever I restart, where it goes back to the migrate software and I'm unable to do anything but restart. Endless Loop.

Any advice on how to bypass this, or otherwise get me onto windows so I can stop the damn thing?

Cheers!

Leave the other drive out.

Install Windows onto your SSD with your Windows DVD or USB.

Check that you can boot to it. Install what apps you can to it - depending on the room you've got.

Put your other drive in. Copy data from the HDD to the SSD. Format the HDD.

You'll then be ready to go.
A fresh clean install of the operating system, software applications, games, and utilities is the preferred method. Cloning software works reasonably well for the majority of users but sometimes glitches develop. This forum has a lot more questions about cloning problems than fresh clean installations.

There is a second reason for doing a fresh clean install. Over time the operating system installed on a drive tends to collect a lot of files that are no longer necessary. Microsoft Windows does not do a very good job of deleting those files and registry entries. Cloning just transfers those useless files to the new drive.

Not a bad suggestion but I would prefer to avoid a fresh install if possible. My system is only a few months old, and I run ccleaner to deal with some clutter (not perfect but still something). If it comes to it, I may as well start anew :)

I tried a variation on this, and removed the SSD instead. The program recognised that it was missing and sent me to my desktop instead, as desired!

I'm going to try migrating again to see if there are any changes. If it doesn't work I'll try and find my windows disk and do a fresh install. I'll let you folks know how that goes. Cheers!

Depending on how much data you have on the HDD you may need to shrink the partition to something less than 250GB before attempting to clone the drive. I agree that a fresh install is the best option and I also understand not wanting to do it if you can clone the drive.

Well, i'm beat. Tried migrating with paragon again, but it wouldn't get past "calculating disk size" or whatever. Tried EaseUS, which didnt work because it also kept telling me the SSD is too small when I can plainly see with my own eyes that it isn't. And so I then tried to install windows to the SSD, only for it to fail at 99% with some kind of boot error that I can't remember the name of.
