So I know PC parts are way cheaper online.

however I've never done it before and right now I'm leaning towards buying all my parts from Fry's, even if they are overpriced, for the sheer peace of mind of physically walking into the store and taking all my parts together.

several things bother me:

-parts arrive on different days, waiting sucks
-parts could get stolen/damaged.
-is it common for people to actually buy their parts via PcPartPicker? is that just a convenient tool? Are there retailers I should stay away from?
-Should I buy all my parts from one retailer, like newegg.com?

Just tell me personal stories about your experiences and generally reassure me that everything will be A-Okay xD

if you order all the parts from newegg at one time they come in one or two boxes at the same time. on time it depends how close you are to one of there local warehouse. with amazon if you have a problem they stand behind you and buyers protection. i used newegg for years now never had an issue with them or there parts. with online sales any iteam can walk off if left on front steps too long today...most vendors still plaster there logos on the outside of the boxes. look online also for local computer repair/builders also look to see if they have computer swap meets near you. here in mass there still one or two that have local swap meets...pay few bucks to get in and they have the local shops in the meet. you get to pick up and price parts. with computer parts there only three parts that need extra tlc. one is your standard hard drive. when i used to work at micro center the ups driver tossed few boxes of drives to hard and broke the spindles of most of them..the next is newer mb cpu slot...sometime if shipped real bad there can be bent pins under the cpu cover. the last is monitors....does not take much to break them in shipping or freeze them if shipped in real cold weather.

with intel skylake dropping vendors trying to clear out there old stock. with the z87 mb before you buy check with asus web page to see what bios rev is needed to post the 4590 and make sure newegg sends you a mb that at that rev or higher. per asus web page need bios 1802 to post that cpu make sure the mb has that to make your build go easy.
