Parrying....

Hi.

I decided to try to get my Tailor back into a fullblown warrior again,
I took down parrying last time I transformed her because I wanted her to
become a smith as well, and I really didnt enjoy the warrior anyway, but
now I want it back. I bought up to 29,6 parrying and it seems impossible
to gain any further. I have fought everything from rabbits to Ogre lords,
no gain. I have gathered 10 cows around me in Delucia and let them hit me
as hard as they can without hitting back, no gains.

Any hints ?

I have 91 swordmanship, 90 tactics, around 65 anatomy which will be
taken down when I have get rid of cooking....

Thanx

Go to the one of the sheep pens in Yew and get them all hitting you.
Tab out of combat so you don't hurt the poor little guys and that
should raise your skill high enough that you'll be able to gain from
real monsters.

I tried that, no gains, and yes, I have one skill set to lowering, and
parrying set to increase 🙂, but no gains....jeezus how irritating....

Interresting....I equipped a sword and now I gain like hell. MY first
tries I didnt have any sword on me, just shield and armor, but with a
sword on, gain is really good on the cows and sheep in Delucia.

Sorry for the top post....

Strangely, I think it is the weapon which does the parrying now! I read
after AOS that a 2-handed weapon can be used by a character with parrying,
although the effectiveness of the skill is much reduced, which suggested as
much.

You have to try different combos sometimes. I've gotten stuck before too.
Just changing your weapons and shields and taking on or off parry
enhancing jewelry can "unstick" you. The best animals for gaining parry
are actually little birds, but they are pain to collect a flock without
killing half in the process.

Orc camps and Covetous harpies worked well for me. But then, I made
room for Anatomy and Healing on my warrior so these WOULD work well

Exactly. A sword provides 1/2 Parry now so the critters that you used
to gain with on shields will work well for sword-equipped characters.
Also, they haven't changed the shield mods they made awhile back: A
small buckler gives you a +15 (I think) bonus to Parry. if you stop
getting gains with one type of creature, switch to a heavier shield.

Gotta disagree on this. The best way to gain Parry (30-120) is IMHO
training with Cows and Goats in Delucia.

Cows...you know these animals who make sounds like "Moooh" and give Milk :)
Back to Topic :
Ive Trained 3 Warriors there form 30-120 Parry.
Just Take about 4 Cows and 4 Goats (may vary) and Attack. Then drop your
Weapon in your Pack or Arm a weapon in which according skill u have 0
Skill and just stand there and Gain Parry...oh you should have some
Spare Shields handy. DullCopper Bucklers combined with a DC Suit should
do. Almost forgot...bring Bandaids..LOTS of Bandaids. A cow just does
about 2-3 Hp Dmg per hit at 70 Physical resist but 8 Cows/Goats will
rapidly deplete your health.

Very interesting. Does it have to be a Delucian cow or will any
mooing beast work?

And if your trying to build healing, find someone training parrying
and ask if you can heal them. I gained from 30 healing to 60 in
about 2 hours.

There is a parry bug that they constantly denying! You must bump up ur
parry to at least 40 or so to start gaining. At 40 real drop the rings.
