I have an HP Elitebook 2170p and there is a plastic part which the screen bezel seems to be held in by or is seated on. It goes around the extremity of the laptop bezel. The bezel is around half an inch wide and then there's the screen.
What is this outside piece called? It seems to be rotting and cracking on my laptop. It's on the inside of the lid (around the screen bezel and makes the contact between the underside of the lid and the screen bezel.
What's this called?
Thanks

That's the Bezel!
The part is in blue, I have a red arrow pointing to it on this pic. See image. It's a separate piece.

It appears to be made of rubber. At first I thought I cracked it but I realize it's just rotting and breaking apart.

There is no real official name for that part, I would say it's the screen surround. If you find a service manual for your laptop it may have something there for a part number. That thing is probably going to be impossible to replace properly due to how it's attached and stretched around the screen.
