Partition not formating

I created a extended partition in my external hdd but it is showing error in formating. At present I left it as unallocated. What should I do?

Try formattig your hard drive and partitioning it again

You can't format the extended partition itself.

What you have to do is create a logical partition inside the extended partition, then format the logical partition.

Use Disk Management in Windows to perform those tasks.
