Partitions not visibile

Hello
i have a 500 seagate hard drive and it was partitioned and split in half. Only used one side for windows and storage. Nothing on the other side. Now windows/and dos dont see any of it. It's like it lives on the empty side of the hard drive without software?! It says no windows on this side of partition. Please help.

I have had this exact same thing happen. It really scared me. I did managed to recover my entire partition though. I used a program called Partition Table Doctor. It looks like there are now free programs that do the same thing.

My question, is how do you utilize these things when you can't get past the DOS environment. I can't get to windows. So how do i install if I can't get there. I only have the black screen? Sorry....

Some of these tools offer a bootable ISO, and if you can find one or get it to work, plug the hard drive into another computer and run the tool on the other computer.
