R/S Advice

If you're going to breed an Abra, then I would recommend picking up a Medicham,
and a Heart Scale and picking one of the Elemental Punches. They're now Abra's
egg moves, along wit Encore and Knock Off

Future Sight might work, I think it can hit Dark-types in R/S. If you don't want to
breed, then use Shock Wave -- the Electric Swift

GSC Advice:

Go to the Goldenrod Department store and buy an Elemental Punch TM and teach it
to Alakazam. It may be standard, but effective. I dunno if an off-the-wall strategy
would work, given the species' lousy (read: almost non-existant) defensive power.

If you go with an Elemtal Punch, another Item Idea is to use the item that boosts
the Punches power (Charcoal/Magnet/Nevermeltice)

Future Sight is a delayed attack, and a good Dark type is going to do a
lot of damage to a fragile Alakazam in the meantime.

Right. Alakazam is a very fast Pokemon with very good Special Attack, not
many hit points, and lousy defenses.

Psychic works very well against lots of Pokemon. Go with it against
Pokemon with high Special Defense, because there's no real point in
giving a non-special attack to Alakazam. (Focus Punch is irrelevant
to everything that Alakazam has going for it.)

However, Psychic does half damage against Psychic and Steel, and doesn't
hurt Dark at all. Against Dark, you want a neutral attack, since Dark
is vulnerable only to Bug and Fighting. One of the Elemental Punches
will do well.

Against Steel, think Fire Punch. Against Psychic, I think it can learn
the TM 30 Shadow Punch, a Ghost move, and Ghost moves are good against
Psychic.

So, for an Alakazam I think I'd recommend Psychic, Fire Punch, and
Shadow Punch for offensive moves.
