If your expecting polaris to be in direct competition with a pascal based GTX 1080 in performance.
Then you may be disappointed.
The polaris, release of gpu`s is not intended to go head to head with the performance of pascal Nvidia gpus.
It is more of a refresh, to do with node process changes and Finfet die shrinkage.
Power optimization and wattage consumption of the Ati gpu line.
You will see improvements in power requirements, and the heat each new gpu will generate be lower in values.
Plus a few changes and additions to features of the Gpu`s by Ati and additions to CGN and the Hdmi specification.
You will see the cards carry less physical shade processing units on them due to the new fin fet cores.
And you will see a performance gain in power but not by a great amount.
The gpu`s intended to go head to head with Nvidia and there pascal line up of gpu`s.
Will be Ati`s Vega range of gpu`s later this year with 16nm or 14nm finfet parts on them.
So don`t expect too much from polaris when it is released, it was never intended for it to go head to head, or toe to toe with Nvidia`s pascal range of gpu`s.
AMD/ATI have already stated this, that the Vega line of gpu`s will be the ones to look at.
