Password box isn't recognizing my curser or letting me enter my password when I first turn on my computer,

When I turn on my computer I get a blue screen windows a Windows pic, not my usual lock screen and when I try to enter my password nothing happens. I can move my curser but not type in the box, help,

Try and perform sfc / scannow and perhaps a system restore.

Is the installation of Windows an upgrade(from which OS prior) or a clean installation? Please also pass on a full systems specs.
