password not working

I have a Microsoft account for Windows 8.1 login. It works fine on my laptop but on my desktop pc it won't let me log in. The password should be the same right? I just set it up a few days ago.

Yes the password should be the same, did you login the same email address as well or the same Microsoft Microsoft account?

You need to add each machine to your account, in your account settings. I think they sent a text message to my phone with a verification code for me last time I had to do it.
