I apologize as I know this has been addressed a ton of times but I still don't see any responses that really work. I have a couple 2tb drives (they did not come with software) and some usb drives. I used to use the U3 on the sandisk drives and I'm looking for something very similar. Since there are SO many files on the drives, it would take forever to encrypt. I'm basically just trying to find a way to make an external hdd password protected and trying to find something similar to U3 for my flash drives.

Thanks for the help!

I know this sounds stupid but if I encrypt a hard drive and continue to add files to it, does it automatically encrypt those? Any good suggestions on programs since truecrypt is gone?

Yes it will encrypt them automatically when you add the files.

BitLocker comes in many versions of Windows and works well, there is also this https://diskcryptor.net/wiki/Main_Page

Just make sure you make a backup of the key for recovery and store that somewhere safe.

Hello sj022698. Did anyone ever answer your question? Let me re-phrase it for you. For a myriad of reasons, I do not want to encrypt my USB external drive. That is not an option. Is there any possible way to password protect the drive OR a folder at root level? If this is not possible, I am looking for one good win 7 developer and a marketing/sales professional. If this would not sell, nothing would. Thanks.

Please start your own thread, it's bad forum manners to add your own question to an existing one and it also keeps different questions separated.
