password reset tool cant find windows installation

I am trying to reset the password on my friends windows 8 laptop, and i burned a password reset tool on a usb. ive been able to boot from the usb, but when it opens, it says system not found. the reset tool cant find the windows installation, so i cant reset the password. the reset tool said to change my bios something to IDE if the interface is Sata. i did it, but still get the same error.

LeaVe the hd in achi mode in the bios. If the tool the same on hirem boot cd it using a Linux boot. Make sure you just hit enter till ask for what disk to look for windows os. You have to seletec number 0 or one for The hard drive. The USB stick will be found as a hard drive so you have to change drives in the tool.
