I'm running a Windows 2000 server using Active Directory, and all my
workstations are XP. Is there a way to setup the server to deploy only
certain XP Update patches to my workstations?

Thanks,

PW

Install Software Update Services, and configure a GPO that will have your XP
workstations pull their updates from the SUS server instead of Windows
Update. Then you can manually approve only the updates you want to have
deployed to your clients.

I installed SUS, and configured a GPO. But I have a question at this point.
That is I don't want to give any permission for installing s/w or changing
any service to our staff because of maintenance issue. I want only IT
person can install program except patch. I understand it needs
administrative right to install patch.

Are there any solutions to clean this issue?

Thanks.

Using SUS will allow the patches to be installed without giving the users any
additional rights to install other software, so you should not have a
problem.
