Hi guys, wondering if you can help me solve something.

Running an i5-4570 + 7870 and noticing that sometimes when I boot and load a game its unplayable in terms of fps. When I reboot it works fine. Drivers are all up to date. This happens with multiple games from the steam platform. Temps on CPU and GPU are normal.

Any ideas?

P.S Should also mention that normal windows usage is unaffected - no lag outside of the games.

Minimal information to go on but here's a few possibilities:
The powersupply is on its limits: What is it?
You have overclocked too high: Turn it down a bit.
The hard drive is going bad: Run the Windows disc checking tools and grab something like Sandra (google it) to check the drive's S.M.A.R.T. data.
The local power is not good: Add a surge protector to the wall socket.

Hi Thanks for the responses. PSU is a Corsair 80+ Bronze 500w. There is no overclock, CPU or GPU. Reinstalling the drivers from scratch hasn't helped. I'll run a few tests on the HDD

Hi guys - feel a bit of a noob. HDD turned out fine so began to worry about power. Checked in BIOS and saw that onboard GPU was enabled. There is no Auto off feature for this board despite the MB VGA/HDMI port being disabled. Disabled onboard chip and seems to have fixed the issue. 3 boots so far and no problems with FPS. Never heard of this happening before so feel a bit silly. I'll let you know if anything changes. Could anyone fill me in on this?

Thanks Again.
