Payday 2/ The heist causing my driver to crash

I have been recently playing a lot of Payday 2 again and it has been running OK up till about a month or two ago when I began running into this issue.
I would start playing the game and after a random amount of time my game would freeze up. I could alt-tab out of it but I could not switch to another application and force quit it. This meant I had to restart every time this happened which was annoying. That was all happening on windows 8.1 and now I have upgraded to 10 and the problem seems to have gotten worse. In windows 10, my game seems to crash even sooner then it did before however, unlike in 8.1 where I had to fully restart, in windows 10 my game will freeze for about 5-10 seconds and then will continue as if nothing happened. After it has frozen the "The display driver has stopped responding and has recovered" message will appear but I will still be able to play the game after.
What I would like to know is why is this happening. I know it is something to do with TDR and that I should do a clean install of my drivers which I have done. Also, it only occurs in Payday 2/The Heist which I find odd. I've played Far Cry 3 for hrs in both single player and co-op recently and it has not happened once. I also used to play Battlefield 4 a lot and it never happened then. So my question is why is this only happening in Payday games and not in others and how do I go about fixing this (if possible)?
Sorry for the long Question

Have done and it's still the same. Also, I don't understand why it is happening in a less demanding game like Payday 2. If anything, I would expect it to also happen when I play FC3 yet it doesn't.

Well no, but I never OC'd ot myself. The only OC was done by MSI.

Edit. I just reset to factory settings and they were exactly the same as before.
