PB278QR Vs 287Q (1440p vs 4k)

These are the two monitors what i have narrowed it down to and i am stuck. These are my current specs and im curious as to how its going to do with a 4k monitor and is it worth it?

Mobo: Asus MAXIMUS VII HERO | GPU: MSI GeForce GTX 980 | CPU: Intel Core
i7-4790K Socket 1150 'Devils Canyon' | Memory: Corsair Dominator
Platinum 8.00 GB RAM | Corsair CX500M

I've only seen 1440p through a 4k monitor, but the improvements wasn't like a "huge" difference to me, maybe just slightly noticeable. It IS huge when it is from 1080p to 4k since it is 4 times better in image quality. But you'll have to spend a lot to get 4k working smoothly for games, right now 1440p is just if you want to enhance your image quality by a bit while still having a great gaming experience of...


Well, if you're planning to go up to 3+ 980s later and join 4k gaming, then get the 4k monitor. But if you're planning to only get up to 2x 980, then I'll stick with 1440p ultra.

So if you don't feel like spending a lot and want to have a pretty good gaming experience, I'd stick with 1440p and get a 2nd 980 later for ultra settings with no problems.
